5 Months?!? Are you kidding?

Colton is 5 months old!  Can you believe it?
He is getting more and more fun every day, making Ross and I laugh constantly.  He is a big "talker,"  always shouting - and I mean shouting - something.  It is like he wants to tell us everything he's thinking and feeling.  On a similar note, he is always trying to move!  He flails when on his back, makes swimming motions when on his tummy, rolls back and forth all the time, inches himself around the floor to find the toy he wants, and loves to be held up in a standing position more than anything.  I have a feeling he will be into EVERYTHING as soon as he is really able to get moving.  Finally, he cracks us up with his "sounds of the week."  As he explores his voice he seems to get stuck on one sound for about a week or so, then he moves on to another.  Right now it is a super high-pitched squeal!
We could not be more blessed than we are by Colton.  Here are some pics to help you (and me) remember just how much he's grown!

Our sweet, happy boy.

Colton Takes Nashville

A couple of weeks ago Ross, Colton, and I took a long weekend trip to Nashville to see Ross' family and introduce many of them to Colton!  We had a great time reconnecting with ALL of Ross' immediate family, almost all of his extended family, and my sister, brother, and brother-in-law.  We were very much the proud parents are everyone got to know Colton!
We didn't take many pictures during the trip, but here are a few:

Nanny and Colton finally meet!

Uncle Robert (and Auntie Char) loved playing with Colton.  They gave him this fabulous "ugly doll."

Stowers family photo - finally ALL together!

Almost all of Ross' cousins recreating a picture they took annually when they were kids - now with spouses and kids of their own!

A cute picture of Colton playing with GiGi - he looked like such a little man....or a lumberjack. :)

A Smack in the Face!

Ross and I just had a great weekend visiting family in Nashville!  We saw pretty much everyone from both sides of Ross' family, showed Colton off, and spent some quality time with GiGi, Grandy, Aunt Grace, Uncle Bobby, and Auntie Char.  We have some great memories from that time...but that's not what I'm here to share.

I must be getting old.  I don't feel that old, in my head, but apparently I'm deluding myself.  How do I know this?  Well....

I went to my brother's band's concert Monday night.  As I looked around I noticed that everyone there looked so young - like high school age.  I asked a friend of Jeff's what all these high school kids must think about someone older, like me, being there.  She proceeded to tell me, "They are probably like, 'What is someone's mom doing here?!'"  Haha!  She's a sweet girl and I know she didn't mean to call me old....so I overlooked that comment.   Then, after the show, I met Jeff's bandmates.  As one of them shook my hand he said, "Nice to meet you ma'am."

What?!?  Am I so old?  Will I, from here on out, be known as "someone's mom" and "ma'am?"
No - I'm only 27.  I refuse to believe this is true!

A pair for me, a pair for...

I am SO EXCITED!  I just bought this pair of TOMS shoes!  TOMS are handmade looking and very comfortable, but that's not the best part...

TOMS are on a mission to provide shoes for children in need around the world.  In fact, for every pair someone buys they donate a pair - one for one!  Considering this, I think they are quite reasonably priced!

Check them out for yourself... www.tomsshoes.com

4 Months!

Colton is officially 4 months old!  I often say that these have been the longest and shortest 4 months of my life.  Regardless of how quickly...or, some days, slowly...time passes, I have loved having him in our lives.  He is such a sweet blessing!

We took Colton to his 4 month doctor's appointment on Monday.  He is still extraordinarily long, 27 inches, and pretty lean, 13 pounds 10 ounces.  The doctor wasn't worried about his length/weight ratio but she did encourage us to start him on solid foods this month so that he can get a few more calories into his system to support his extra long body! :)  We started with rice cereal yesterday!

Colton was excited and ready to try his "big boy food!"

He actually took it pretty well!

Even so, it was just a little messy. :)

Here are a few of our other favorite pictures of Colton at 4 months!
