The End of Pregnancy...

Overall I've had a pretty easy pregnancy.  Granted, the first trimester was a bit rough in terms of having pretty bad morning sickness (I actually lost 3 pounds and didn't gain them back until my fifth month!  Don't worry, I've gained plenty pounds since then, though.) and total physical exhaustion.  Since then, though, I've felt really great.  I don't have any of the typical complaints that many pregnant women do - at least not regularly.

Even though I am in my ninth month I have hardly had any digestive issues (i.e. heartburn, indigestion, etc), no pooping problems, and almost never have any trouble sleeping.  I rarely even have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom - from what I can tell that's a miracle!

The only thing I have to complain about, and I do, is that my feet and hands are swelling.  I'm ok with slightly swollen hands.  I can't wear my wedding bands anymore but I got a pretty sweet, bling-licious ring at Target that I'm enjoying wearing for a change.  The feet swelling is really bugging me, though.

If you know me well, you know I have long, thin feet - especially long, thin toes.  Some might say they are freakishly boney.  Now I look at my feet and see cankles and sausage toes.  I hate it!  Below is a picture for your enjoyment.

As you can see, my right foot is more swollen than my left.  Why?  I don't really know - but it's gross.

Anyway, like I said, I'm thankful I don't have much to complain about...and if I'd just stay off my feet more I might not have any complaints!  My only concern about the fact that I am still almost totally comfortable is that this baby is going to be late.  Only time will tell...

What a Day!

Today I was driving to my doctor's appointment for this week and a crazy thing happened.  I was stuck in bad traffic and running late.  Ross had already called the office for me so that they would know I was on my way.  I was sitting at a stoplight when all of a sudden - CRASH!  The woman who had been sitting behind me was looking at her radio and thought traffic in our lane had started moving.  She hit her gas without really looking and rear-ended me!

So, since 9:00am this morning I have been filing a police report and sitting at the hospital in labor and delivery getting tested to make sure everything was great with the baby.  To be honest, the longer I was there (about 5 hours total) the more I wished I would just go into labor.  I mean, hey, I was already there!  No such luck.  However, the baby looked great - that's good news!

A couple funny things happened when we got the ultrasound to check the baby out.  First, we were watching his hand to make sure he was moving it (why that's important, I'm not sure).  Anyway, when he did move his hand he just kept flicking us off!  Haha - he's already a little rebel!

The second funny thing happened when the ultrasound tech was moving her little probe around and saw his "private parts."  She exclaimed, "Well!  You are sure having a boy!"  I laughed and said that I was glad to have that confirmed since some people like to let me know that ultrasounds can be wrong and seem to like to challenge me as to what I would do if I have a girl instead.  The ultrasound tech looked at me and said, "A girl?  Not with those testicles!"  Haha - Ross is a proud dad now! ;o)

Anyway, glad to report that all is well.  Still on track for 3 and a half more weeks of pregnancy...

Welcome to Our Blog!

Welcome to the Stowers Family Blog!  I am starting this to update friends and family all over the country (and the world) about all the exciting happenings in our lives. ;o)  Right now the most exciting thing we are doing is getting our lives and house ready for our first baby who is due in less than a month!

We have been working non-stop on renovations, setting up a nursery, cleaning and organizing TONS of baby things, and buying things we never knew we'd ever need.  For now, I'll leave you with a few pictures of what we've been doing the past couple of weeks.

Check back soon for more updates/baby news!

The dresser we ordered.  It matches the crib (which we already had) wonderfully.

The stroller we ordered - it shipped today!  I'm in love with it.

Jenn, my sister, came to visit last weekend to throw me a baby shower and help us with baby stuff.  She was amazing!

Friends from church after my last baby shower - I love these girls!

My favorite picture of the nursery so far.  I think it is my favorite room in the house!

A close up picture of the bedding Connie (my mom-in-law) made - I love it!

I think this picture of his clothes is adorable - it is hard to believe he'll fit in any of these!
